Cervezas Victoria is holding the Andalucía Beer Pouring Contest Finals
The winner of this first edition is Mercedes Romero, from La Odisea (Málaga), second place was awarded to Manuel José García from DDiez Gastrobar (Ayamonte), and third place went to Orlando García from Restaurante Azcona (Sevilla)
La Odisea (Málaga) was the local winner of the 1st Beer Pouring Contest of Andalucía, a competition promoted by Cervezas Victoria through Bar Manager, the hospitality services app shared by all Damm customers, in order to find the best tap beer pourer in the region. Close to 500 venues from across Andalucía participated in the contest, which demonstrates the succes of this first edition of the contest.
In the end, a total of 10 venues competed for first place: Puesto 43 de Granada, El Delirio Mexicano de Granada, Azcona de Sevilla, Blanco y Negro de Jaén, Hippie Puerto Santa María de Cádiz, Taberna 1830 de Torremolinos, Bar La amistad de Manuel de Córdoba, La Odisea de Málaga, De la O de Sevilla and DDiez Gastrobar de Ayamonte. Mercedes Romero, from La Odisea (Málaga); followed by Manuel José García from DDiez Gastrobar (Ayamonte), who won second place, and Orlando García from Restaurante Azcona (Sevilla), who took third.
The winner of this first edition was Mercedes Romero from La Odisea (Málaga), who received a check for 2,000 euros. Second place went to Manuel José from Ddiez Gastrobar (Ayamonte), and third to Orlando García from Restaurante Azcona (Sevilla), who were awarded 1,000 and 500 euros respectively. Furthermore, La Pera Gastrobar received honorable mention as the "Most Popular Bar in Andalucía", for receiving over 640 "likes" on the contest website.
The jury for this first edition was comprised of the Vice-president of the Gastronomy Academy of Andalucía, Iñaki Echeveste; journalist from Loopulo digital magazine, Fran Sánchez; Sabor a Málaga Director, Leonor García- Agua; representative of the Benahavís School of Hospitality, Yolanda Hernández; Sales Director for Cervezas Victoria, Luis Rubio; Master Brewer at Victoria, Eduardo Sall; and the head of Hospitality Market, Humberto Puente. When it came time to score the contestants, the judges took into consideration criteria such as the technique used (opening of the tap, inclination of the glass or pressure, the presence of bubbles, good practices during the pouring process or the presentation of the glass on the bar, among others.
With this first contest, Cervezas Victoria intends to value the work by hospitality professionals while promoting good service and brewery culture.
