Victoria Diez, a beer inspired by the first brewmaster of 1928
Cervezas Victoria once again pays tribute to its own history, especially to the first German brewmaster, Heinrich Dietz, popularly known as Don Enrique Díez.
Cervezas Victoria presents Victoria Diez, a new Helles Bock-style beer that pays homage to Henrich Dietz, the first brewmaster of the legendary brewery in El Perchel (Malaga), who in 1928 gave body and flavour to the brand’s first beers.
Henrich Dietz is remembered as an organised, precise and demanding man, who was at the same time much loved and appreciated by the factory workers. Slender and elegant, he always wore a canotier hat, which he took off when greeting his neighbours. He was undoubtedly a character that did not go unnoticed in the city that welcomed him and where he was sympathetically christened Don Enrique Diez.
The Franquelo family hired him to bring German brewing know-how to the cooperage district of El Perchel. Therefore, the silk-screen printed image on the bottle shows Enrique and also the façade of the factory that he himself opened in 1928 together with the Franquelo brothers.
"With Victoria Diez we cover a segment of beers of greater body and intensity, reaching 6.2 alcohol content, but with the same spirit of the traditional Victoria beer: brewed through a slow maturation process and with 100% natural ingredients", explains Jose Villalobos, Cervezas Victoria’s Brand Manager.
Victoria Diez is an intense and balanced lager, due to its Helles Bock style. The prominence of barley malt in the recipe, together with the presence of hops, makes it a highly drinkable and refreshing beer. Its taste is moderately bitter with herbal overtones, its appearance amber with golden highlights and white foam over the bright clarity of the liquid. The nose has notes of lightly roasted malts, and on the palate, it is powerful and silky due to its creaminess. In short, it is a beer with a great personality, refreshing and balanced.
The versatility of Victoria Diez enables a wide variety of pairings, including some of Malaga's traditional dishes such as fried fish, stews or payoya goat's cheese or blue cheese, among others.
This beer is marketed in a 33cl non-returnable bottle for the hotel and catering trade and can also be tasted on visits to the Cervezas Victoria brewery in Malaga by booking through their website https://www.cervezavictoria.es/es.
