The old Estrella Damm Brewery hosts a solidary cinema session for senior citizens
Members of the Damm team joined the initiative, framed by the Damm corporate volunteer plan #LIVE TO BE PART OF THE CHANGE, which has been carried out in cooperation with La GRAN pantalla, Fundació Amics de la Gent Gran and homes for senior citizens
The old Estrela Damm Brewery held a solidary cinema session for senior citizens who are experiencing loneliness. Company employees joined the initiative, framed within the corporate volunteer plan #LIVE TO BE PART OF THE CHANGE, to enjoy the film and spend time with the invited audience.
The event was organized by Damm, in collaboration with Fundació Amics de la Gent Gran de Barcelona, an entity that fights against unwanted loneliness and social isolation, Associació Sagrada Família per a Ancians, Residencia de Mayores Arco Iris and la GRAN pantalla, the International Film Festival for Senior Citizens of Barcelona, whose purpose is to dismantle prejudice and stereotypes surrounding this group.
During the event, Damm volunteers accompanied event attendees during the showing of the short "A la Bretxa" and the movie "El Inconveniente", two productions whose plot encourages reflection regarding unwanted loneliness and intergenerational relationships or the digital gap.
"We have been able to share and enjoy some very valuable leisure time with senior citizens who live alone and usually find it difficult to participate in social activities. With this type of effort, we seek to improve their emotional health and to raise awareness regarding social isolation", says Alba Linares, head of RSC at Damm.
