The III Estrella de Levante beer pouring contest has its winners
Antonio Martínez, from Tandem Kitchen & Bar, took first place, while Sonia Galera, from The Aguilón Irish Pub, and Rosa Ana Hidalgo, from Restaurante Campoy’s, took second and third places respectively
The Estrella de Levante Brewery Tasting Hall is hosting the final of the III Beer Pouring Contest. In this edition, close to 300 hospitality venues participated to win the award of best beer pourer in the Levante area, which includes the provinces of Albacete, Alicante, Almería and the Region de Murcia.
During the final, the nine finalists demonstrated their abilities when it came to pouring a draft beer before a professional jury comprised of Cristina Marín, sales director at Estrella de Levante; Joaquín Reyes, Editor in Chief for the Gastrónomo magazine; Luis Carmona, professor at the Hospitality and Tourism school in IES La Flota; Silvia Abenza, QA Director at Estrella de Levante; Antonio Chacón, professor at the Tourist Qualification Center of Murcia and Yan Maia, beer sommelier for the Murcian beer.
Some of the criteria that the jury took into account to assess the candidates’ beer pouring were: the technique used, the presence of bubbles, the washing of the glass, or the presentation of the glass on the bar.
Finally, the winner of this edition was Antonio Martínez from Tandem Kitchen & Bar (Calasparra) who won a prize worth 2,000 Euros. Second and third places went to Sonia Galera from The Aguilón Irish Pub (Almería) and Rosa Ana Hidalgo from Restaurante Campoy’s (Bullas), in the amounts of 1,000 and 500 Euros, respectively.
Furthermore, the videos preferred by the audience won mentions as “Most beloved bar of Albacete, Almería and the Region of Murcia”, with Mesón Sierra Morena from Almería winning.
A contest through which Estrella Damm wishes to continue supporting the work performed by hospitality professionals, as well properly poured beer, so that fans can enjoy beer and all of its nuances.
