Damm, Mediapro, the Torres Family and PepsiCo announce the Horeca Challenge startup finalists
The second edition of the Horeca Challenge will devleop innovative solutions with regard to three challenges: enriching delivery and take away, boosting the use of spaces, and improving the Horeca channel's value chain efficiency
Horeca Challenge, the initiative launched by Damm, Grupo MEDI-APRO, the Torres Family and PepsiCo, to boost growth in the restoration sector, has announced the startup finalists. The three winners will be chosen from among them, and will carry out a pilot program of their solution, co-funded by the organizers of the contest.
This year, Horeca Challenge sets its sights on innovation as a tool to transform bars and restaurants, following a first edition whose purpose was the recovery of the sector due to the effects of the pandemic. The participating startups have submitted innovative projects aimed at facing the three proposed challenges: enriching delivery and takeway service channels with digital content; boosting the use of Horeca spaces by incorporating new uses, and improving the efficiency of the channel value chain.
After receving more than one hundred proposals, the Horeca Challenge anounces the finalist startups, which must present their "pitch" to experts from the companies that are organising the contest. The finalists, according to category, are:
Enriching delivery and takeaway channel services with digital content:
UNION - Linking realities, Upwine Smart Tasting and Waitry
Boosting the use of Horeca spaces by incorporating new uses:
B-LAB Gastronomic, Grovy and The Nomadapp
Improving the efficiency of the channel value chain:
Bumerang Takeaway, Hadock App and Yumminn
On March 10, the winning startups (one per category) will be announced. From that moment on, each one will be able to test their technological solution by launching a three-month long pilot project, co-funded by the driving forces behind the initiative. The Horeca Challenge will end in July with a "Demo Day", where winning companies will show the results of their pilot programs to distinguished investors and other companies.
The Horeca Challenge is an initiative launched by Damm, the Torres Family, Grupo Mediapro and PepsiCo; which has the support of ACCIÓ -Generalitat de Catalunya- along with F6S, AECOC and Tech Barcelona as collaborators.
