Damm invests 25 million Euros in expanding the El Prat de Llobreget factory
The beer company will launch a new can packaging line in May.
Damm has invested 25 million Euros on the expansion of its El Prat de Llobreget factory. The new facilities occupy a space of 11.600m2 and consist of an auxiliary building, a can packaging line and a loading and unloading system for tanks.
As a result of this expansion, the factory intends to create a total of 50 new jobs during 2022.
The new production line, which will launch operations in May, will meet the growing demand for this format, and will package the different styles of beer for all the company's brands.
In line with Damm's firm committment to sustainability, this canning line boasts the latest advancements in technology and energy efficiency. In this sense, all the cans that leave this new production line include the ASI (Aluminium Stewardship Initiative) Performance Standard and Chain of Custody Standard certification, a double certification that guarantees the highest environmental, ethical and social standards for the entire aluminum chain, from production to can manufacturing, the preparation of beer, and recycling.
Likewise, following the company's bet on eliminating single-use plastics, all Damm brand can packs that leave this new production line will include 100% biodegradable cardboard rings, as well as cardboard material in the packaging that envelopes the can pack.
This expansion comes on the heels of completing an intensive investment cycle that culminated in 2020 and which allowed for the increase in the factory's production capacity by 45%, going from 5.3MHI to 7.2MHI annually. This entailed a total investment of 64 million Euros.
