The 6th Estrella Damm Andalucía Masters wraps up
The golf tournament was played behind closed doors following the specifications of the health authorities
For the second year running, Estrella Damm sponsored the Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucía Masters, a European Tour international golf tournament, which was held from the 3rd to the 6th of September on the Real Club Valderamma course in Sotogrande, Cádiz, Spain.
Because of Covid-19, this year the tournament was held behind closed doors, following the European Tour’s health strategy as well as the specifications of the health authorities.
John Catlin triumphed in Valderrama, staying calm on the final green. The American beat some highly skilled rivals, led by Martin Kaymer, winner of two majors and a former World Number One. “I think it’s still setting in; the nerves were going nuts the whole of the final round. It’s a very difficult golf course, the greens are firm and fast, and the wind was no easier than it has been the previous three days”, Catlin remarked.
Jorge Villavecchia, Managing Director of Damm, accompanied by representatives of the Valderrama course and the Junta de Andalucía local government, presented the trophy to the winner and highlighted how important it is that these leading events are held despite the current situation, showing that it is possible, but hoping that things get back to normal for next year.
