The board of directors of the Spanish Logistics Centre awarded Rafael Siles, Damm supply chain manager, with the Logistics Leader award 2020 in recognition of his professional career. The XXX edition of the CEL awards took place last 13 January through a virtual gala streamed on their YouTube channel.
Manel Jiménez, member of the CEL's board of directors, presented this award that recognizes Siles' work and professional career developed over 40+ years working in the sector. He highlighted Siles' "leadership and contribution in several Damm projects, such as the implantation of a shipping automation system or a product traceability and reverse logistics system, as well as transport optimization and the development of a 135,000 m2 logistics centre at the Port de Barcelona's logistics area (ZAL II)."
Meanwhile, Siles has stated that he feels "truly fortunate to be able to enjoy doing my job and to meet countless excellent professionals. All of them taught me how to develop a work based on the 3 E's: ethics, efficiency and encouragement." Finally, he proceeded to thank and "share this award with all my Damm team and with all the persons working there on a daily basis to achieve an efficient, sustainable and innovative supply chain. I sincerely convey my congratulations and thanks to each and every one of them."
The jury of this XXX edition of the CEL awards, composed of independent and prestigious professionals from different sectors such as administration, education, media and other logistics associations, also recognized Alfil Logistics as a finalist in the "Sustainable Logistics" category due to its commitment to the environment and to the implementation of measures that have led to a 20% reduction of their carbon print.
The CEL awards
The CEL awards were created in 1990 to boost and promote innovation within the logistics management sector in Spain. These awards recognize national projects developed in each category that represent a significant contribution to the supply chain management, thus offering important benefits or a substantial improvement of the quality of their processes.
