Estrella Damm rekindles memories of summers in the seventies in their latest summer campaign

The version of the hit single Yes, Sir, I Can Boogie is the star of Summer ‘78

Estrella Damm rekindles memories of the iconic 1970s in “Summer ‘78”, its new “’Mediterráneamente” campaign. And it does so with one of the hits that revolutionised the music scene of the 1970s, “Yes, Sir, I Can Boogie, which topped the music charts of Europe, the United States and Mexico, setting all kinds of records beyond our borders.

“Summer ‘78” tells the story of María, a young woman who, after bidding farewell to her grandmother, receives a box of old photos that had belonged to her, amongst which a collection dating from the summer of 1978 catches her attention. As a result of this find, she decides to visit each of the places that her grandmother had photographed during the summer of that year.

Past and present mix in this trip that will lead them to enjoy unforgettable beach-filled days and starry nights that seemed to go on forever, dance until sunrise, and meet people that will change the course of events. All of this without realising that they are living, in different years, what will be the summer of their lives. Because “no matter what changes, may what matters never change.’’

Undoubtedly, the star of Estrella Damm’s campaign this summer is the music: “Yes, Sir, I Can Boogie” by Spanish duo Baccara. A song that not only has survived the passage of time but has also been able to win over different generations, in the same way that it will do so this summer with the version that British singer-composer Debbie has interpreted exclusively for Estrella Damm, and which will soon be available on all music selling and streaming platforms.

“Summer ‘78” is an original idea from Oriol Villar –creator of Estrella Damm’s “Mediterráneamente” concept–, directed by Claudia Llosa –who previously collaborated in the beer’s 2012 (“It’s not what, it’s how”), 2014 (“Train your soul”) and 2018 (“Cyrano”) campaigns– and American Oscar-winning director of photography Erik Messerschmidt, who was awarded a golden statuette for his work in the film “Mank” (2020).

Starting today, “Summer ‘78” can now be viewed on the YouTube channel and on Estrella Damm’s social media, as well as at www.estrelladamm.com.
