Estrella Damm Old Brewery holds the first #GastroDona event
Celebrated within the framework of the International Women's Day, it gathered 16 gastronomy professionals
Last 8 March, on the occasion of the International Women's Day, the Estrella Damm Old Factory hosted the #GastroDona virtual event in Barcelona, with the participation of 16 renowned women from the culinary sector of Catalonia and the Balearic Islands. It was organized and promoted by Estrella Damm and Repicat Events, sponsored by chef Carme Ruscadella and presented by the gastronomy journalist and communicator Carme Gasull.
From 10:00 to 17:00, gastronomy lovers could attend live via GastroEvents Online's YouTube channel and enjoy the work of haut-cuisine professionals such as Carlota Claver (La Gormanda, Barcelona), Núria Gironès (Ca l'Isidre, Barcelona), Núria Bonet (Ca La Núria, Bellver de Cerdanya), Roseta Jorba (Pa i Raïm, Palafrugell), Eli and Diana Vilamaña (El Bistrot, Gandesa), Fina Puigdevall and Martina Puigvert (Les Cols, Olot), Carme Picas (El Ginjoler, Sant Feliu de Guíxols) or Iolanda Bustos, also known as "the flowers chef". All of them prepared different recipes either at the Estrella Damm Old Brewery or in their own kitchens. Besides, Maca de Castro (Maca de Castro, Alcúdia) talked about the culinary tradition in Mallorca, while Melanie Sevilla (Petit Comité, Barcelona) explained the theory behind cheese boards, Instagramer Laura Ponts showed how to create a good still life composition and sommelier Clara Antúnez performed a tasting of Aigua de Vilajuïga.
Lastly, the renowned sommelier Meritxell Falguers proposed the ideal beer pairing (with Estrella Damm, Bock Damm, A.K.Damm, Equilater, Complot IPA, Malquerida, Voll-Damm and Inedit beers) for some of the recipes prepared in the event, such as Iolanda Bustos' dish with pears and violets or Roseta Jorba's creamy rice with sea hedgehog and black butifarra.
