Estrella Damm beer pays tribute to the 37th America’s Cup with a limited edition of its 25cl can
The design of the can, inspired by competition and representing the coastline of the Catalan coast, was created by graphic designer Ricard Jorge
Estrella Damm, an official sponsor of the Louis Vuitton 37th America's Cup, has launched a limited edition of its 25cl can to mark the sailing competition that recently commenced in the waters of the city of Barcelona and will continue until the end of the month of October. This special edition can was designed by Ricard Jorge, a graphic designer specialising in bold and colourful geometric illustrations and can now be found in supermarkets.
Ricard Jorge's works stand out for the contrast between minimal expression and detailed environments, always making balanced use of basic shapes, lights and colours to respect the essence of the elements represented. For the occasion, the designer has created an illustration inspired by the sailing tournament. Featuring a unique style, he has successfully captured the coastline of the Catalan capital, which has been turned into the official regatta racecourse of the 37th America's Cup. The illustration can be found on the 25cl cans sold in packs of 12 units in most major food retailers.
As an official sponsor of the America's Cup, Estrella Damm is the tournament beer and enjoys visibility in the different spaces provided during the competition in Barcelona. It is also collaborating in actions that bring the competition and the sport of sailing closer to the public. In this regard, over the last few months the Old Brewery has hosted training sessions for America's Cup volunteers—attended by around 1,600 individuals who will help make sure that everything goes smoothly with the competition—as well as dissemination sessions on the highlights of this regatta, considered the oldest trophy in international sport.
Estrella Damm and sailing
Today, and with 148 years of history behind it, Estrella Damm's presence in the world of sport knows no limits, and the company remains committed to its disciplines in both national and international events related to football, basketball, tennis, paddle tennis, sailing and golf, amongst other sports.
The relationship between Estrella Damm and sailing dates back more than 25 years, with the first sponsorships of the Copa del Rey de Vela (Palma de Mallorca), a competition which the Estrella Damm Sailing Team won in 1998, 2018 and 2019. In 2007 and 2010, it also participated in the first and second editions of the Barcelona World Race, the only non-stop, round-the-world sailing regatta with two crew members, starting and finishing in Barcelona.
In this 37th edition, Estrella Damm beer is once again a sponsor of the America's Cup—just as it was in the 2007 and 2010 editions held in Valencia—and of Emirates Team New Zealand, the current defending champion—which it also sponsored in the 2007 edition—, thus reaffirming its commitment to sailing, sport and society.
