Damm signs sustainable €200M-financing with Banco Sabadell, CaixaBank, Santander and BBVA
The company will use these loans to finance general corporate needs and strengthen its sustainability initiatives and projects
Damm has signed sustainable financing lines -ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance)- with Banco Sabadell, CaixaBank, Santander and BBVA for a combined amount of 200 million euros. The company closes its first ESG financing, renewing its financing lines and incorporating sustainability criteria.
The company, chaired by Demetrio Carceller Arce and firmly committed to promoting actions that promote the achievement of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals established by the UN, reinforces its commitment with the closing of this sustainable financing agreement to the development of projects, allowing allow it to continue advancing in its struggle to minimise the environmental impact of its activity.
The funding granted to Damm will be linked to the achievement of certain sustainability objectives. These include reducing the weight of non-recoverable waste generated each year in terms of hectolitres produced and increasing the production of green energy for self-consumption from the company's production centres. As a result of its solid commitment to sustainability, Damm is currently the national brewery with the greatest energy generation capacity for self-consumption. The investments made in recent years have enabled the company to have solar self-sustaining facilities at its factories and to promote an innovative project to generate electricity for self-sustainability from the biogas generated during wastewater treatment.
Last year, the company reaffirmed its commitment to the environment with the creation of a Sustainability Committee that will help to promote even more initiatives within the sustainable and responsible business model that Damm promotes. This will make a positive contribution to our environment in the short and long term. The Sustainability Committee is responsible for ensuring the continuous improvement of environmental indicators, as well as compliance with the commitments acquired by the different Damm companies in this area.
