The Cervezas Victoria brewery hosts a sports photojournalism exhibition

The sampling features 54 finalist photos from the ‘Málaga en el objetivo’ Sports Photojournalism Awards I, sponsored by the Malaga Association of Graphic Press Reporters (AMIGP) and the Malaga Sports Journalists Association (APDM)


Until 31 May, the Cervezas Victoria brewery is hosting a temporary exhibition made up of 54 finalist photos from the ‘Málaga en el objetivo’ Sports Photojournalism Awards I.

This is a recognition sponsored by the Malaga Association of Graphic Press Reporters (AMIGP in Spanish) and the Malaga Sports Journalists Association (APDM in Spanish) to help highlight sports and appreciate the work done by photographers, journalists and media professionals to convey the value of sports in society.

The awards final was held on Thursday, 11 April at the Cervezas Victoria brewery. EFE Agency photographer Jorge Zapata received the first prize, whilst photographers Marilú Báez of Diario Sur and Coral Serra of Canal Sur Televisión were awarded the second and third prizes, respectively.
In this first edition of the awards, nearly 100 photographs were submitted. These photos, featuring sports-themed works tied to Malaga and its province, were taken by journalists and/or sports media professionals who are members of both the AMIGP and APDM.

The jury members for this first edition were María Jesús Fernández, University of Malaga (UMA) professor, Doctor in Communication Sciences and member of the APDM Board of Directors; Mar Bianchi, sports journalist affiliated with Doctor Watson Communication and DAZN; Alberto Sánchez, sports journalist and editor; Nacho Gutiérrez, professor at the Apertura Photography and Visual Arts Centre, coordinator and Master of Professional Photography and founder of ARS Photography; and Pepe Ortega, AMIGP president, sports photographer, among other media, at MARCA, and official photographer of the Malaga Football Club during the past 14 years.
